I got my doctor's letter back (for the 3rd time) and it actually looks great. What? That's not huge news? Hahahaha... well that's as huge as it gets right now I guess.
I'm wondering if your "time waiting for I-171" starts when you mail it in, or when you get fingerprinted? Like are they processing other parts of it, or does your paperwork just sit in a file until they get the finger prints?
Yes, my friends, these are the things I think about. It's an exciting life I tell ya!

Here was our timeline - however, we were on vacation when we received the 171H so I'm not sure exactly when it came, sometime during the week before
2/4/08 - Sent I-600A to Denver by overnight mail
2/19/08 - Got our fingerprints taken
3/20/08 - Received our 171H

I think that is an excellent question!
That is good news from the comment above, maybe we aren't in for the horribly long wait we are anticipating, that is also huge news!
Hmmm...that IS good to know! Not as long as I thought it would be. But I still have a few weeks before I can start opening the mailbox with great expectations again. (ha)
Your time starts when USCIS has received your I-600A. Once it is received, they send you your fingerprint appt. You are well on your way. After you get your prints, the wait is usually about 4 weeks depending on the USCIS office and how busy they are.
We actually waited 12 weeks (Chicago USCIS office) because there was only 1 adoption officer and the wait time was ridiculous. That time is now down to about 8 weeks.
I have your fingers crossed for you and for me (selfishly!), because we are also waiting for our I-171. Nina, I hope you are right about the 4 weeks from fingerprint to I-171, because I am going crazy with putting together a dossier.
